Thang Luu Wins Second WSOP $1,500 Omaha Split in a Row

When you’re good, you’re really good. And for the last three years of Omaha Split at the World Series of Poker, Thang Luu has been excellent.

In a field of 918 entrants, Luu got to the final two players for the third time in three years, and won for the second year in a row. With the victory, “Tiger” Luu took down $263,000 for the $1,500 buy in event. That is the largest prize awarded for this event.

On Sunday, Luu beat out Ed Smith, who entered the final pairing with a big-time disadvantage in chips. Luu was leading 2.3Million to 1.8Million.

It’s remarkable to see an individual show such skill and consistency in a game like Omaha Poker.

Now that Luu has a bracelet for each arm, we’re expecting him to hit the $10,000 buy in World Championship of Omaha Hi-lo Split Eight or Better. That three-day event kicks off on June 7th.
