Congratulations from the Carbon Team to FoxyUK and CookoeDFP, who have both given outstanding performances to reach the money in the No Limit Holdem WSOP event #54.
Both Cookie and FoxyUK won their prospective seats to the WSOP via a recent CarbonPoker heads up sit’n'go promotion – All-in or Fold your way to Vegas!
A total of 3,844 players registered for this event, with 2,340 hitting the table on Day 1A and 1,504 Day 1B. Event #54 was a $1,000 buy-in and boasted a total prizepool of $3,459,600, with first place walking away with over $570,000. While neither player managed to win quite that much, both Cookie and FoxyUK have done CarbonPoker proud with their respective results. After both players ground their way through the larger field of Day 1A, Cookie finished the day with 12,650 and FoxyUK with 48,900. With only 586 players of the original 3,844 surviving till Day 3 and many of them shortstacked, the field was cut by a further 200 entrants only a matter of 2 hours into the action on Day 3.
Unfortunately Cookie and FoxyUk were among the early departures on Day 3, but both can hold their heads high and know that everyone at CarbonPoker was just happy to see 2 of our regular players make the money.

For all of his tournament success during the early 2000’s and appearances on High Stakes Poker, it’s been a while since we’ve heard Sammy Farha’s name in the poker news. However, Farha recently changed all of this with a win in the Omaha Hi-Lo World Championship. In fact, he made a strong claim to being known as the best Omaha player in the world after wining his third WSOP bracelet.
Tom Dwan has won millions of dollars in online poker this year, and often plays for pots bigger than the first place prize of most WSOP events. Event still, WSOP gold bracelets are a coveted prize and Dwan has yet to put one around his wrist. And it’s especially important that he win one this year since Dwan has made a lot of side bets that he will win a bracelet; in fact, he stands to make around $2 million if he wins one!
It’s hard to imagine Men “The Master” Nguyen being mentioned in the same breath as poker legends like Phil Ivey and Billy Baxter. After all, The Master has gained some attention in the past few years for being accused of cheating in LA area card rooms with players he has trained. And while the jury is still out on whether any of the allegations are true, nobody can deny Nguyen’s success in the WSOP…..especially after he recently won his 7th gold bracelet to tie Ivey and Baxter.
Michael Mizrachi has had a lot of troubles lately. Less than a month ago, he had both of his Florida houses taken away by the government since he owes over $340k in back taxes. Aside from this, he’s also trying to deal with what he believes to be bad accounting in regards to the unpaid taxes. But finally, it seems like Mizrachi got a break…..a $1,559,046 break!
You no longer have to listen to some idiot on a forum rattle on about their personal list of the top 10 poker players in the world because ESPN has started releasing a legitimate monthly list. Called “The Nuts”, this list of the top 10 poker players in the world does a good job of figuring out who is currently playing the best poker out there.
Sit and go’s are already an extremely popular poker tournament format because they’re quick and lots of fun to play. But sit and go’s only become more fun when you throw a monthly leaderboard race into the mix that rewards a total of $10,000.
This Sunday at Carbon Poker, French poker player mesut54000 took down the WSOP Grand Final – $12,500 Seat Guaranteed Tournament. As the name of the tourney suggests, mesut5400 walked away from the virtual felt with a $12,500 package that includes a $10,000 buy in for the 2010 WSOP Main Event.
The ninth annual European Poker Awards turned out to be a very special occasion for Vitaly Lunkin since he won the 2009 European Poker Player of the Year award. The Russian player now joins previous winners such as Marcel Luske (2001, 2004), Garry Bush (2002), Dave Colclough (2003), Rob Hollink (2005), Roland De Wolfe (2006), Alexander Kravchenko (2007), and Bertrand Grospellier (2008).
AWESOME UPDATE: in the past 12 months, CarbonPoker has paid out $2,833,938.01 to our Bad Beat Jackpot winners and losers.
