carbonpokerpicCarbonPoker is proud to roll out some new features tonight. We’re going to be enhancing your online poker experience with some subtle updates that will go a long way.

Features:

CarbonPoker 4.7 has gone through Beta testing and is ready for web-wide launch. Be on the lookout for easier-to-use rebuy reminders, Sticky Preferred Seating, Pot Bet improvements, synchronized tourney breaks and more.

Rebuys & Buyins
-    Auto Rebuy options
-    Remember regular buyin amounts for cash games
-    Request rebuy while still in a hand
-    Other tweaks

Sticky Preferred Seating
-    We’ll now remember your preferred chair and sit you in it when you register for a cash or single table tournament

Pot Bet Buttons
- ¼, 1/3, and ½ pot bet buttons have been updated to ½, 2/3 and ¾ pot bet

These are pretty exciting features that will be greatly appreciated by our Carbon regulars. I love the idea of synchronized tourney breaks – as you will now be able to play multiple MTTs with synchronized breaks. You can play your way into the bubble in two tourneys, with time for a bathroom break.

Keep your eyes peeled for the new features.

Downtime:

At 02:00 Server Time on Tuesday, there will be some scheduled downtime to push through these recent updates. So schedule something, like some sleep, for the few hours following that redeploy.

Hit the comments to let us know about the new features and what you think.

Enjoy!

Turkey Grand SlamNovember has come and gone. The turkey was stuffed, leftovers have been pillaged and football was watched.

There’s just one more thing to do before we fully dive into December: play the Turkey Grand Slam.

This Saturday, December 5th, the top 128 players on the Turkey Grand Slam Leaderboard will face off in a unique starting stack heads up tournament. The best part? The jackpot is going to weigh in at a hefty $28,995. Over $28K was built up over the month from a meager seed of $2,500 from CarbonPoker.

As you know, half the funds from the special Turkey SnGs kept building up this massive total. Nicely done, guys.

Congrats to the top 5 finishers in the Leaderboard. They’re definitely favorites to win, but it a tourney like this, anything can happen.

1 LTUFlawless  301,900
2 mazokie  288,336
3 Ebener2012  208,742
4 UShdFold9  157,330
5 scidles23  138,900

Keep your eyes peeled for December’s great promo! More to come from CarbonPoker

cousins of ron mexicoThings are starting to get a lot busier at CarbonPoker lately. Our Bad Beat Jackpot is going off, tourneys are getting bigger each week and more players are coming through the door — we’re expanding. The blog is no different and we’re bringing a new member into the family: Cousins of Ron Mexico. He’s a noted online blogger and player at Carbon.

Hello, my name is Stephen. I’m an avid poker player and over the next 100 years I’m going to be sharing some of my poker-playing experiences with you. I know what you’re thinking – 100 years? That’s a really long time. Well, I’m such a dedicated player (and blogger) that I agreed to contribute to Carbon Poker over the next 100 years.

You may recognize my name from the first two Carbon Poker blogger tournaments. I won the first ever CPBT and finished second in the… second. It took a wick beat to bump me from a second straight victory, but I’m not hear to talk about that. Nobody likes to hear someone else’s bad beat stories, right?

Over the next 100 years, I’ll be talking poker strategy and just generally trying to get a discussion going about the best way to play. I don’t have a fool-proof system and don’t think that anyone does. Just because you play aces perfectly one hand doesn’t mean anything the next time you are fortunate enough to have them.

To me, poker is like tennis, but with a lot less movement. Except in tennis, you know exactly how many games you have to win to win the match. Poker can go on forever. So maybe its more like cricket? I’m not really familiar enough with that sport to know if that works. Maybe its more like baseball. No, wait. Its just like poker.

Its a beautiful game that can be infinitely frustrating and yet provide hours of boredom intertwined with moments of joy. No matter how good you get at poker, you’re always in danger of losing to someone who is just awful. That poker, she’s a cruel mistress. I’ll try to deal with that and in turn, help you guys deal with it. And maybe – just maybe – we’ll teach each other something along the way. Now get back to those virtual tables. There’s poker to be played.
