Yep, you read that right: $15,000 daily.  And that’s not all – a number of existing prize pools have been increased across the CarbonPoker schedule, for a total increase in monthly guaranteed prize pools of over $500,000.  This news comes only weeks after the site boosted its total guaranteed monthly prize pools from $3 million to $4 million.  The new cash brings that total to over $4.5 million, 50% than it was less than a month ago.  Not too shabby!

I played in the Commerce Guaranteed Million Dollar Tournament where they had 5 Day 1s and people could enter and cash up to five times. I entered Day 1A and got there right near the end of Level 3. You could re-buy up until Level 4, which started after a 15 minute break.

Right before break I was dealt Queens and ended up a few hundred short of a full double up. So that brought me to almost 8K. It’s tough with these tournaments where you only start with 4K-there isn’t much room to wiggle. In Level 4 I just played Kings and Jacks, bringing me to over 10K. Then, the next hand I remember playing, I think I was on the button with AK. The guy in the cutoff had raised and I re-popped him. Everyone else folded and he called my raise.

So let’s review my image thus far. I’ve only played three very big hands thus giving me a very tight image at this table, because there just wasn’t need to do otherwise so far. Ok-the flop comes out A-9-7 rainbow. He checks and I bet out 3K if I remember right. He then thinks a bit and pushes all-in. WHAT? He had me covered just barely at this point. I thought forever and this is where I made my mistake. I’m thinking maybe he called my pre-flop raise with 7s or 9s, but not really sure he would. A-9 and A-7 seem even more unlikely to me.  Maybe he has a big pocket pair, in which case I’m golden. Maybe he and I have the same hand. I just felt like I was good. I called and flipped my hand over. He looks at me and flips his over…9-7.

WHAT??? You called my raise with 9-7???? And this was an older gentleman, not a young, aggressive internet kid. Not a table bully. Just a guy who had seemed to play pretty solid…up until now. No-now that he takes a chance with a way worse hand he gets rewarded with a flop that not only has his 2-pair, but a card that gets him paid off! I guess you can tell that the last 2 cards didn’t help me and that was it for me with about 200 people left in the tournament. It paid to about 54 I believe that day. I should have laid it down I guess, but I had a lot invested in the pot already and that’s the flop I wanted to see. So that was frustrating.

Then, same day, I went to Hustler and played in a tourney they had going with a big guarantee.

I made it until 11:30pm, about 20 people from the money, and got knocked out when I was all-in with Kings again Jacks against A-Q. Ace right on the flop! Ugh!

Day 1B at Commerce, I played til after dinner break. During the first level after break I get it all-in with Aces against 7s against AK. I immediately walk away because I just can’t bear to watch. You know it’s never a good sign when you hear the whole table let out a collective “OH!.” Yes, 7 on the RIVER!  Of course…why wouldn’t my aces get cracked? There were only 100 people left and it paid to 54 with 27 people moving onto Day 2.

The only other thing I did last week worth a tiny mention is play in an EA Sports Pro-Am football game in Malibu. It was fun and for charity-so that’s why all in all it was good. But I used to play powder puff football in high school and was an athlete in general. So I expect at least a certain level of athleticism from myself. And during warm-up I hardly missed a catch. But during the game itself…I couldn’t have played worse! I couldn’t seem to catch a single ball for some reason-I barely touched the ball to pass-and my shoes weren’t cleats so I was sliding around all over the place. It was truly embarrassing. But many of the pro players really tried to make me feel better and help me….especially Deion Sanders. He was so sweet to me I was fighting back tears. I am a huge Dallas Cowboys fan being from Texas, and was always a big fan of his. And now, I love him that much more!

I hosted my first bounty tournament on Carbon last Friday. It was great, except something was wrong with my chat box. It let me get one thing through and then every time I tried to write anything after that I got a message saying something like I wasn’t authorized to chat. Hmmm. Very odd, I know. Carbon and I worked on it for a long time and just couldn’t get it to happen. So I’m very sorry to anyone who may have tried to chat. I read one question and kept trying to respond and was so frustrated that I couldn’t. Hopefully next time we’ll have it all sorted out. I’m so sorry guys!

Because of this I was kinda distracted from the game at times, and this caused me to make a big error. I had Queens on the button and raised-then the small blind pushed and I didn’t notice that the big blind called before I did the same. If I had noticed the call I would have for sure folded! And sure enough, the small blind had Jacks but the big blind had Aces. So that was the hand that crippled me. I pushed after that out of necessity with a suited ace and knew it was over when I got 2-3 callers. So, congratulations to whomever won my bounty! Next time, no mistakes! Haha J

I spent last Saturday with a friend coming up with new show ideas and swimming in my pool. It was nice-actually the first time I have been by a pool all summer. Then Sunday I saw “Inception.” Wow-what a movie, right?! Incredible! It was so thought provoking and inspiring. My friend and I debated parts of the movie for hours afterwards and even ended up looking up questions online to see who was closer to being right about things. That’s definitely a movie to see over and over again!

With all of the meetings I had last week and the writing and stuff, I’m ashamed to say it, but I still haven’t fully unpacked my bags from Vegas. It was so hot in my house last week that I just couldn’t be bothered. That’s part of why I probably want to travel right now too. Every summer my house absorbs the heat in LA like none other. There’s nothing I can do about it really, that’s just how it is. I love love love my house, but I’ve been told that the air conditioning duct system was not set up properly when the house was built. Therefore, one unit cools the left side of my house and one cools the right. But, I’ve been told it should have been set up that there was some kind of unit controlling each level. My bedroom is on the top right level. This just happens to be the hottest room in the house-and I’m single! Haha -but it is the room that’s boiling hot when it’s hot outside. I like to sleep in the cold and bundle up under the covers. It’s so hard to sleep when it’s that hot. Because I don’t want to go to extremes by knocking holes in the walls to fix this problem, I just grin and bear it, for now. The walls here are not easily patchable with the paint job that’s on them. So I may have to resort to some kind of window until I guess. Not really sure. I’ve never looked into it. But if I do end up staying here for awhile, I may just have to do that soon. BTW-my dogs tend to hang out downstairs with my friend, so they’re always nice and cool. It’s the coldest part of the house-so they are happy! They just come up to say hi to me every once in a while.

Ok-writing time! Or…should I watch The Bachelorette first? I kinda should watch it so nobody else on twitter ruins it…yes, I saw something already that I didn’t want to know. And then there’s Big Brother After Dark on Showtime 2. That’s 3 hours! And I have a hard time writing and watching TV at the same time. Now do you see why I haven’t gotten the writing done??? It’s really a problem! Oh the dilemma. You said I should watch The Bachelorette, right? Yeah-I thought that’s what I heard. Thanks. I’m off to do that. I’m rooting for Roberto! I like them together-they’re steamy!
