This concept becomes a lot more crucial when you’re winning money, and using this cash to pay bills and other important things. On one side of the fence, you can’t short yourself and the obligations you need to live up to such as paying rent, car payments and buying groceries. But you also have to keep your bankroll up so that you can continue to generate future online poker money.

A good rule of thumb when making this decision is to reinvest 60% of winnings into your bankroll, while cashing the other 40% out. Obviously there are other considerations to think about depending on each individual, and this is only a generic number to go off of. For example, if you play $25/$50 NLHE and win $20k throughout the month, you can afford to keep 75% or more of this money in your bankroll. However, if you play $3/$6 NLHE and depend on $5k you made throughout the month to survive, then you might be better off cashing out 80% of the winnings.

Just keep in mind though that the more money you can reinvest in your bankroll, the more bad variance swings you’ll be able to survive, and the better chance you’ll have of moving up in limits later.

Interestingly enough, the hand that offers a bonus will change every month at Carbon’s choosing. So this month it’s quad5′s, and next month it could be quad 8′s; just check Carbon to see what hand you need to flop to get the bonus.

As far as the size of the bonus goes, this is based on what level you’re at in the Carbon VIP program. But before we get to this, take note that if you do land quad 5′s, you should take a screenshot of the hand in your hand history, then email the screenshot to Quads@carbonpoker.com.

Now that we’ve covered all of this, here’s a look at how big of prizes people get based on their VIP level:

- Regular members: $5
- Earth level: $10
- Wind level: $15
- Fire level: $20
- Water level: $25
- Ether level: $30

As far as the details of the jackpot go, the massive prize will be unlocked if somebody loses with at least quad 7′s or higher to quad 8′s or better. In addition to this, both hole cards must be used from the losing and winning hands, the hand must go to the showdown, and the hand needs to generate at least $0.50 for the jackpot. Here is a list of the full requirements.

Assuming that the Bad Beat Jackpot is unlocked, several people get to share in the prize, and here’s a look at the breakdown:

- 35% to the loser
- 20% to reseeding the jackpot
- 17.5% to the winner
- 17.5% to players who have been dealt into the hand
- 10% to Merge Gaming

With the current Bad Beat Jackpot, the loser would receive $162,921, the winner would earn $81,461, and the other players who were in the hand would split $81,461. If you’re interested in competing for this massive amount of money, just find the Bad Beat tables in Carbon’s lobby and start playing.

Now the amount of money you get back at the end of each day will depend on your level within the VIP program. So as you may have guessed, it’s extremely important to get on the poker tables at Carbon and rack up as many VIP points as possible.

Super Money Tree starts in January, and Carbon Poker will track your VIP Points throughout the month. As the name implies, the more points you earn in January, the bigger your money tree will grow. It’s that simple……you just earn VIP Points and Carbon will pay you major money at the end of the month.

To see how much money you’ve accumulated throughout January, check your “player admin” and choose the “activate” button. As soon as you earn 100 VIP Points on any day through cash games, MTT’s, or SNG’s, you’ll be eligible to receive money.

“dk2112″ won this massive amount of cash after having four 7′s cracked by “BlackOutBob” and his four 8′s.  Of course, it looked like “dk2112″ was a clear-cut favorite in this hand after picking up quads on the turn; but “BlackOutBob” hit four eights on the river and moved all-in.  “dk2112″ eventually called “BlackOutBob,” and the huge jackpot was set off!

Besides “dk2112″ winning the $156,402 Bad Beat Jackpot, “BlackOutBob” also earned $78,201 for winning the hand.  As if this wasn’t enough, the other five players in the hand made $13,033.  If you’re interested in earning this kind of cash, you should check out the Carbon Bad Beat tables in the lobby.  $0.50 is taken from each hand to fund the huge jackpot, and a player needs to be beaten while holding four 7′s or better to release the jackpot.  This differs from a lot of other bad beat sites where the requirements are a little more stringent.

Just as the famous Carbon Poker Bad Beat Jackpot hit $300,000, five lucky winners brought it right back down.
