In a field of 1,060 of the top women in poker, Lisa Hamilton emerged as the cream of the crop. Lisa is another first time bracelet winner and is usually a cash game player at the $50-$100 tables. In fact, the entire final table of competitors had never won a bracelet. It took only four hours to decide the winner.
Hamilton was a last minute entry into the $1000 buy in event. It definitely paid off – leaving Hamilton with $195,390 to go with her new gold bracelet.
Coming into heads up play, Hamilton held a commanding lead over Lori Bender at 2.3million to just 865,000. The final pairing ended quickly with some aggressive play from Bender that didn’t quite pay off. She earned $120,575 for her effort.
This was the 32nd straight year for The Ladies Championship event, which switched to Texas Hold’em from Stud in 2001.
