The 2009 World Series of Poker has been all about multiple bracelet winners since Phil Ivey, John “Brock” Parker, and Jeffrey Lisandro have all been in the winner’s circle more than once already. In the case of Lisandro, he’s found this circle three times en route to winning 3 different gold bracelets.
Well Greg “FTB” Mueller decided to add another multiple bracelet winner to the mix after he took home the victory in Event #50. The former professional hockey player was previously able to claim gold in Event #33 of the WSOP as he won $460,838 for first place. Mueller was at it again in Event #50’s Limit Hold’em Shootout where he was able to survive a 576-player field to earn his second gold bracelet of the 2009 WSOP.
Most of the 576 players were gone by the first day since only 64 people made it to Day 2. And Day 2 saw this Limit Hold’em Shootout tourney play down to the final table with Jose “Nacho” Barbero, Joep Van Den Bijgaartmade, David Williams, Marc Naalden, Flaminio Malaguti, Matt Sterling, and Mille Shui all joining Mueller.
Mille Shui, who fell short in her attempt to become the second female bracelet winner of this WSOP, busted out in third place which left Marc Naalden and Mueller to battle heads-up for the win. No matter which player won this event, somebody was guaranteed to join the multiple bracelet winner club since Naalden won Event #38.
Greg Mueller and Naalden played for over 3 hours against each other with both players trading the chip lead back and forth. However, Mueller (Kd5h) was able to beat Naalden (Kh2s) on a board that read Td4d3sKdJh. With the win, Mueller earned another $194,854 and his aforementioned second gold bracelet while Naalden settled for $121,614.
