Evander Holyfield proves to be “Real Deal” on the Felt

Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield is no doubt one of the greatest boxers of all time.  Holyfield is a five-time boxing Heavyweight Champion, and has been involved in some of the most high-profile fights in history.  What’s amazing is that Holyfield is still fighting for titles today!  But as good as Holyfield is at throwing a punch, his poker skills have never been put to the test….until now.

Holyfield is one of the celebrities who recently made an appearance at Poker in the Park, which is Europe’s largest poker festival.  Holyfield was on hand to play one lucky player in a heads-up match for €2,300 in prize money.  Thousands of people crowded around to see Leif G from Midland, U.K. take on the former boxing champion.

Leif G made his way to this prestigious matchup by winning a series of online qualifiers.  So it was clear that Leif was no slouch when it came to heads-up poker.  However, Holyfield proved to be better than most people thought after he won a challenging match against Leif.

After winning the heads-up contest, Holyfield said, “It’s like fighting.  If you want to win, you have to focus and prepare, and that’s exactly what I did for this tournament just like I do for any challenge.  Leif was a challenging opponent, but I managed to stay on top.  I was really pleased with my win.”

After losing against Evander, Leif G said, “It was a shame I lost, but I was excited and pleased about the whole experience of coming to London with my family and meeting Evander.”  Leif finished by saying, “I noticed that Evander was really focused from the start.  Playing one-on-one is a different kind of game for me.”

Even though he lost, Leif G still managed to earn a third of the €2,300 prize pool.
