Climb the CarbonPoker Money Tree

Money TreeWe’ve all heard the lame expression that money doesn’t grow on trees, but Carbon Poker is looking to change that with their latest promotion.  The promo is called Money Tree and it is Carbon’s way of kicking off Spring with an excuse to give out more free prize money to players.

To participate in Money Tree, all you have to do is keep on doing the same old by playing in cash games, multi-table tournaments, and sit and go’s.  As you play in these games, you will accumulate VIP points, which will land you somewhere on the VIP Leaderboard.

But what’s cool about this leaderboard is that you don’t need to keep up with the beasts of the online poker world to get a prize.  In fact, the prize money you earn from the Money Tree promotion depends totally on YOU.

As you play in April, your leaderboard points will be tracked throughout the month.  And depending on how many leaderboard points you accumulate on your 10th best day (as far as acquiring VIP points goes), you will be paid $1 for every 10 VIP points.

There is no limit to the amount of money you’ll be given in the Money Tree promotion; it all just depends on how much you make on your 10th ranked day.  So if you were able to earn 300 VIP points on the 10th ranked day, you’d get an additional $30.

To ensure that you qualify for the Money Tree promo, you need to earn at least 10 VIP points on 10 separate days in April.  As long as you’re able to do this, you will be paid some money for the 10th ranked day.  Start playing now and earn your free cash!

Apolo Anton Ohno Plays Poker and Roulette, is a ‘Hustler’, Baby

ohno pokerIt might not have the stakes of NBA team gambling, but the US Men’s Speed Skating team must have some pretty excellent cash games between winning medals.

We previously reported the JR Celski is an online poker player, and after a recent Twitter update, highly decorated skater Apolo Anton Ohno loves to hit the felts as well.

As per the image, Ohno answered a fan’s question (@ApoloOhno Do you have a hidden talent that would shock/amaze people? :) ) with the following tweet:

I’m a hustler on the poker table and roulette calls my name lol!

While it might not exactly be NEWS to report that someone plays poker, it would be news to hear about some of the poker games that are definitely going down at the Athletes Village in Vancouver. Is Ohno actually a hustler? Is there a craps table beside the ping pong? Has anyone ever lost their medal in a game? I’VE GOTTA KNOW.

If any Olympic athletes are reading this, let me know about what goes down and I’ll totally hook you up with coupons for tournaments.

Baltimore Wants Some Poker, Marlo Approves

The Wire PokerThe city of Baltimore, Maryland is getting Senate and Mayoral support for poker tables in their slots casinos.

Democrats (Mayor) Stephanie C. Rawlings-Black and (Senate President) Thomas V. Mike Miller have issued their support for additional games to be added to the recently permitted slots casinos. These casinos are not yet open, but the powers that be are already looking to pump up this potential revenue stream.

Profits from the casinos will be used to fund public education – that’s a win for poker players and students in Baltimore (win, win).

States like Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Delaware offer legal poker, and state officials are worried that Maryland is losing out on local cash that is crossing state lines.

During trying economic times, states have fast-tracked the construction and legality of casinos, leaving gamblers (and kids) thankful.

As of now it’s up to the public to decide, but this is still America, right? Let people choose what they want to do. It’s not like Baltimore doesn’t have poker games going on right now. Regulate the games and start padding education funds.

Another Bad Beat Jackpot at Carbon Poker Goes off at $300,000+

bad beat jackpotAWESOME UPDATE: in the past 12 months, CarbonPoker has paid out $2,833,938.01 to our Bad Beat Jackpot winners and losers.

Just as the famous Carbon Poker Bad Beat Jackpot hit $300,000, five lucky winners brought it right back down.

On the flop, medman08 had 4 Aces and WizAlex0 had 3 9s. The Turn completed WizAlex0′s 4 of a kind (9s), and both players were obviously all-in. The pot was a paltry $277, but the payout was extreme. WizAlex0 took down $105,723 as the hand’s loser and medman08 won $52,862.

Let’s not forget about the three others at the table who won $17,621 for their troubles (folding).

For those of you that don’t know, the Carbon Poker Bad Bead Jackpot goes off when a hand of Quad 7s or higher gets beaten — keep in mind that this is the lowest qualifier online.

WTF is the Carbon Poker Time Bank?

Time BankFeature time!

Sometimes when you’re playing a hand of poker and your mom won’t stop yelling at you from upstairs you’re calculating pot odds, you need a few extra seconds to make the right call.

That’s where the Time Bank comes in. Based on quick decisions you made earlier in the session, you ‘bank time’. That time can accumulate and be used when you actually need it. (Think of it like that revolver you keep under your pillow).

When you use the Time Bank feature, other players will see the small icon pop up as well. Use it for strategy, time or just to get the most out of your Carbon Poker experience. As soon as you make the call/fold/raise, your remaining time goes right back into the bank. It’s easy to withdraw and deposit (time).

Look for the Time Bank inside the software the next time you need a little bit extra… time.
